Memphis Moments at the Grammys – Timberlake, Green, Freeman & King


At the 2009 51st Annual Grammy Awards presentation last night on CBS, there were several Memphis/Mid-South moments.  One special moment (on this video) is Justin Timberlake and Reverend Al Green singing “Let’s Stay Together” with Keith Urban and Boyz II Men.

Also, Morgan Freeman introduced Kenny Chesney at the Grammy Awards with a glove on his left hand.  According to this Access Hollywood interview with Morgan Freeman, €œI wound up with a lot of nerve damage in my arm, so the hand is still paralyzed,€ Freeman told Access. The story goes on to say, “Following the crash, Freeman underwent surgery to repair his broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage.”

B.B. King paid tribute to Rock & Roll pioneer Bo Diddley with John Mayer, Buddy Guy and Keith Urban.

WREG, the Memphis CBS affiliate did a 14.5 household rating and 20.6 share.  Nationally, CBS household rating averaged 11.3 and 18 share, and  among total viewers the Grammys drew 19.7 million, 8 percent better than last year€™s 18.2 million.
